Day 7 May 4

The sun came out today!!! And it was warm! It was a much needed break from the rain. We were so excited that we packed a picnic lunch to take with us and we planned to hop in the van and explore a new beach. We got all our gear ready and went out to the van but I couldn't get the remote car starter to unlock the doors. Finally I realized my battery was dead. Thinking I would deal with it later, the girls and I changed plans and decided to try and discover a new beach by walking. We walked for awhile and realized it would take too long, so we followed a trail until we reached the far side of the beach we normally go to. The tide was out so we were able to walk out on the rocks quite far.

Later we walked closer to the sandy part of the beach and met another mom with her two little girls. The girls had fun playing together and discovering hermit crabs (no crab is safe with Giselle's eagle eyes!) and making their own little tide pools. The girls learned why it's a bad idea to throw goldfish crackers out for the crows to share (those of you who know my fear of birds- especially crows, know how charmed I was by having 6 of them flying around us ðŸ˜±ðŸ˜±). I was also able to encourage the young mom to homeschool her kids which she was already leaning towards. I love how much more open people are to the idea every year that passes!
Late afternoon we went back to the suite to see what could be done about the van. Paul the elderly Tile-Man who has been working on the front porch here (and is a wealth of information about this area), was hesitant to jump start it for us, but said he would give it a try. Turns out the van wasn't just kind of dead, but so dead I couldn't even put the car into neutral so we could push it out of its stall to jump it. Paul told me which mechanical place was good to call (there are only two but the other ones are "goofs" - good to know!). When I called but no one called back, he personally drove over to the shop and talked to them and made sure they sent someone out. 50.00 later I have a running van. And when I saw which of the interior lights had been left on, Giselle received another stern talking to about playing with the interior lights. She has killed my battery about 3 times by doing this.
Kylar was able to sit in on a consultation his instructor Stephanie was doing with a potential client. It was really good for him to see how she deals with the owner and the dog. He was also able to handle the Doberman that he is working with on his own out on their daily walk. Stephanie was with them of course, but it takes some work for her to be able to trust her student to be able to handle her dog. Rosy (the Doberman) adores Kylar. She actually sneaks in cuddles with him during sessions when Stephanie isn't looking and when Stephanie turns around, Rosy quickly walks around like she wasn't doing anything. ☺️
In the evening after dinner I decided to take the girls to the running track close by. I started the Couch to 5K app since I haven't ran in years, and let them run wild to burn off some energy. They literally ran circles around me and then were mad when I was tired and it was time to go home. Crazy kids. No wonder I'm so tired by the end of the day. Their energy never seems to run out!
My app said I earned a Lionheart Badge for my first "run"... but as the girls laughed as they passed me lap after lap, I wasn't feel Lionhearted for the right reasons
