Day 3 April 30

Today was spent finishing unpacking, stocking up on groceries, and exploring the nearby beach. The girls scootered outside on the super quiet street, had some "getting adjusted" tantrums and general not behaving quite as usual... and I might or might not have had 1 or 2 little tantrums as well - and caught myself counting how many more sleeps until home. Ha! Probably not a good idea to go there quite yet.

Our new "Tiny House" for the next 5-6 weeks

It was stressful and chaotic here until we had the groceries packed away, had lunch and then walked to the beach. The beach close by is very rocky and wild. There are a lot of tide pools to explore - and just sitting on the rocks, watching the wild waves crashing onto the outlying rocks is amazing, and gives great perspective.

As usual, Giselle was in there with all her Giselle enthusiasm - finding dead crabs and then some live ones, gathering a crazy amount of shells in her pockets and running all over the place with Kylar. Amara, as usual, had to take more time to adjust and get acclimated. She cried a lot and was too afraid to go very far. I was torn between the usual conundrum of parents with more fearful kiddos - how much do you push and how much do you sit with them and wait for the fear to abate? This time I felt I needed just to push. The first time on the beach needed to be faced with confidence and bravery or this would become a battle that would continue for at least a week. Kylar prayed with her, we talked about how her Heavenly Father has not given her this fear - in fact, He made this creation for her to enjoy! And then... I literally pulled her, crying, after me on to the rocks to explore the tide pools. Soon after she relaxed and even enjoyed herself. She didn't even freak out about the washed up dead jellyfish by the end of our stay there! I am so proud of her. And then she thanked me for "inspiring me to be brave". Sweet girl.

Being on the beach helped us all relax and the rest of the afternoon was more upbeat. The sun coming out helped as well.
I am probably more exhausted today than I have been yet. But also more at peace, just knowing we are finally here and settled.

Stephanie, the trainer is SO welcoming, SO sweet, quite eccentric, and SO excited to start training Kylar tomorrow. She has been awesome to us. And she loves kids, which is a huge relief to me - knowing that their noise isn't annoying to her.
Kylar is really excited to get started on the training tomorrow. It will be good for him to have something to focus on and give him a break from all the estrogen in this room! I can't wait to hear all about it.
